Description

The Mag Magnet Gen is a hard anodized button that magnetically attaches to a Bullet Button™. It is not permanent, is easily removed, and requires no modifications to your Bullet Button equipped firearm. The Mag Magnet should never be left on your AR Rifle while inside of California. This item is best used when traveling outside of California for temporary use of your bullet button as a standard mag release and then removed when re-entering California to adhere to the mandatory fixed magazine situation. Use in California, if left on gun, constitutes an illegal Assault Weapon situation and should be avoided. Includes a convenient storage pin to store the Mag Magnet when not in use.

When can I use the Mag Magnet?
The mag magnet can be installed and left on your firearm if it is:
  • a rimfire, most commonly .22LR
  • a featureless build with no other evil features such as a pistol grip, flash suppressor, vertical fore grip, flare or grenade launcher, collapsible or folding stock, or thumbhole stock
  • outside the state of California
  • an “assault weapon” registered with the CA DOJ
California State law prohibits certain types of firearms. Semi-automatic, centerfire rifles with a detachable magazine cannot have any one of the following features (PC 12276.1):
  • Pistol Grip
  • Flash Suppressor/Flash Hider
  • Vertical Fore Grip/Forward Pistol Grip
  • Flare or Grenade Launcher
  • Collapsible or folding Stock
  • Thumbhole Stock
If your firearm does not have any of these prohibited or evil features, then you can have a detachable magazine.
You are also prohibited from possessing:

A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

AR-15 mag magnet gen 5
A while back I ordered some inexpensive mag magnets from eBay for my AR-15s. They ran me about $12 each. The price was good and upon inspection, they functioned as advertised. They fit well and seem hold fine.

As my collection has grown I searched for the same magnets and in the process, stumbled upon this website. I took a look at the original AR-15 magnets (I don't need fancy colors or graphics). The description peaked my interest but the price seemed a little outrageous for a little piece of plastic with a magnet ($20.50 each). Ouch!

After thinking about it for a couple days I decided to give them a try and see if they're really that much better than the alternatives I see on eBay for less.

Now that I have the magnets in hand, the difference is night and day. The magnets are huge, and crazy powerful.

By comparison, my cheaper eBay-acquired magnets are actually set in plastic to increase their diameter and ensure a snug fit on my AR-15 bullet buttons. The gen 5 mag magnets have no plastic wrap, its all magnet. And the fit is perfect.

The gen 5 magnets are so strong they practically jump out of my hand. When I place them on the bullet button I practically have to pry them off. The hold is that strong; MANY TIMES stronger than my cheaper eBay alternatives.

To further test the gen 5's, I closed the dust cover on my AR and placed one on the flap; along side one of my cheaper eBay magnets. The cheap magnet pulls off fairly easily, with little force applied. If I give it a decent flick I can launch it off the dust cover and clear across the room. Not the gen 5's though...

I gave the gen 5 the same flick and it hardly moved. It shifted a millimeter or two to the side. If there was any question about the strength of the gen 5's before, it was gone now. So I grabbed the magnet between my thumb and index finger to take it off my gun, and it pulled the dust cover open with it! Wow... wasn't expecting that.

I get it now. These are the real deal and worth every penny! When you place them on your gun, they will not budge. My words don't do them justice.

If you're ever in the kind of situation where you need to use a mag magnet, you're going to want the magnet that you never have to worry about.

Indeed its better to "have the tool and not need it, then to need the tool and not have it". But if you're going to have the tool, make sure its the right one. Spend the extra $5-8 and get these. Don't take a chance on a magnet that you may accidentally knock off during an adrenaline fueled situation.

I'll be picking up several more in the near future. They are simply outstanding.

PS, the service I received on the phone was also excellent. All of my questions were answered prior to my purchase.

5 stars for product and service.
